Dude. Thats what we want - people to stop investing in houses. Thats why they did it. Houses are for living in. Not investing in.

Prices are down, investors discouraged, so why are first home buyers not buying?

So Dave you’re saying half the market were investors, no wonder first home buyers were squeezed out of the market.

It will affect the investors, not the owner occupiers. Now, how about interviewing a 20yo that’s just entering the market?

When the elite and big property investors are crying like Dave here, meant they are on the right track. Prices should go down so the it can become affordable again for all not just the rich like Dave.

If people don’t buy property for investment rents go up because there is less investment properties available. How does that help young people. It’s the opposite

Housing is a right and should never have been an asset. This new budget is way overdue.

Yep. I bought a house on bridging finance at the peak of the market prebudget and now having to sell our old one on a cooled down market. I now have a huge loan on a house that is worth less money and will get less money for our old one. Albo has put us in dire straits.

bought my home, few years ago, on 5%. don't give a fuck, I bought a HOME not an investment. I support anything that makes homes more affordable to others, even if my home loses value on paper. fuck it. I'm not selling because if you are a home buyer, not an investor, you aren't buying a house as a short term asset.

Remember people, you can’t complain about affordable housing then turn around and be upset when housing prices drop. This is a negative for the investor, not the first time home buyer!

I never saw NG as the main goal. I'm a middle class earner, single, trying to build superannuation with one investment property. My tenant pays $200 a week lower than market value and I refuse to put the rent up because she shouldn't have to suffer. But with interest rates/maintenance, I'm NG. Yes I'm grandfathered but my CGT has changed, and I have done the right thing/not been greedy with it (to my knowledge) and feel penalised a bit. It is what it is.
