@baxterequineservices: Hot branding isn’t seen quite so often in the UK nowadays. In Scotland and Northern Ireland, it is totally banned as of 2010. However in England and Wales it is still used to primarily as an identifier for the semi-feral native breeds which include - Dartmoor, Exmoor, and Newforest. There are ongoing campaigns to stop the practice altogether to get a nationwide ban. Parts of Europe have also banned the practice altogether - Germany, Denmark, Netherlands, Sweden, Austria. It was once widely used by many of the warmblood societies to mark horses belonging to their relative studbooks - any horses that you see with the warmblood brands today will be older ones that were branded before the ban. It’s still commonly seen on some Spanish breeds, and is widely practiced across America. #equestrian #fyp #horsesoftiktok #oddlysatisfying #horsetok
