For those who don't know, the house in the video has a great structure but remains unfinished because it is still under construction. In rural areas like this, owners often choose to move in while gradually doing the interior renovation, as they usually don't have all the funds available at once. Interestingly, many people from capitalist countries often automatically assume this is an abandoned, half-finished project left by a bankrupt developer. However, homestead land (Zhaijidi) in rural China is allocated by the government for free (the same goes for farmland, actually). There is no purchase cost and zero property tax; the only expense is the actual cost of building the house itself. This is why even if people can't make it in the big cities, they always have a guaranteed shelter and a self-sufficient food supply back in their rural hometowns.
