ESPECIALLY if it’s a male celebrity who has a more introverted or quiet public persona. They are soooo infantilised it’s crazy. And then the minute they do something (not always problematic) that seems a bit “out of character”, their women fans are so shocked and devastated that a man would act like a man.

true. true. it's worse if you are female artist dating someone. because your fans might self insert themselves as you in your relationship and will punish you if that relationship doesn't go as they intended it to go.

I work in SEO. If you look up the monthly search volumes for celebrities you will very quickly find that almost all public women have searches for them with no clothes on. 💀 Their job doesn't matter, it happens for tv presenters, idols, singers, scientists, politicians etc. Basically any woman under 50. This does not happen with men, even if they are known to be very attractive or have a big female following thirsting over them.

I’ve seen both sides of fandom from within and have actively dropped male artists because of the way their female fans will coddle them and turn a blind eye to absolutely everything. It’s deplorable

Exactly this! I made the conscious decision to not ever again get involved with a fanbase of any artist because they are ALL the same. The fans of men 10000% give boy mum energy and have so much internalised misogyny they never worked out. Sadly the fans of female artists are also sooooo mean everyone just bullies each other and it got to a point where I was like… I’m nearly 30 I don’t have to do this
