Bats were worse, balls were doctored, fences were much longer.

The greatest of them all and would have 1000 homeruns today. They had to lower the mound, shorten the fences, liven up the ball and feed steroids to even be competitive with him.

Babe Ruth was barely an athlete by 1920s standards. His swing was impressive because it somehow got to the ball. In a high school league today, he'd be lucky to make the bench as an alternate for a backup player.

Here is what people miss. If Ruth played today, 80’s , 90’s, he would have been trained to adapt to the swing of the times . He would have dominated at the plate. He also would have dominated on the mound. He still would be in the talk of the goat, regardless of what era he played in. And remember, he , alone would out homer entire teams of his era. No one will ever come close to that.

Babe Ruth used a 50 oz bat if he used a 32oz bat like players today that’s equivalent to 112 mph fastball coming towards him back then so I think Babe would dominate today’s game!

There also isn’t a player in the league swinging a 46 ounce bat either!

he was head and shoulders above the people he played with, which is how you gauge the greatness of any legendary player

He could easily hit today if given a couple weeks of practice. If you have it, you have it.

Don’t forget the mound was 5” higher and those guys would load the ball up with crap. The bats 6 oz heavier and it was 450 to center in Yankee stadium.

is it just me but old clips of him swinging seem mystical still, and that bat is basically a tree stump.
