The Ending Explained (Spoilers) Kyōka sprints to the room and finds the nightmare repeating itself: Atsushi is conscious but completely paralyzed with fear, frantically slapping the call button. Hovering directly over his bed is the vengeful, grotesque spirit of the very first patient who died in that room. The spirit is physically pinning Atsushi down, suffocating him, and trying to claim his life to feed the room's endless cycle of death. How It Resolves Realizing that regular medical intervention is useless against the entity, Kyōka relies on the strength of her familial bond. She throws herself onto the bed, physically shielding her brother with her own body to break the ghost's grip. She screams at the spirit and desperately tells Atsushi to fight it, refusing to let the curse claim her family. Her fierce determination and refusal to abandon him break the spirit's psychological hold. The ghost dissipates, and Atsushi's vitals stabilize just in time. The Aftermath Atsushi survives the night and eventually makes a full recovery. However, the curse of the room itself isn't truly "cleansed"—it was simply defeated in that moment. The segment ends with the lingering, chilling reminder that Room 417 remains a dangerous place, and the underlying malice tied to that nurse call button still waits for its next vulnerable occupant.
