If I sting you, we’ll both drown.” It made perfect sense. Halfway across the river… the scorpion stung the frog. As they both began to sink, the frog cried, “Why? Now we’ll both die!” The scorpion answered, “Because it’s in my nature.” Read that again. Stop expecting people to act against their nature just because you’ve treated them with kindness. Some people don’t betray you because you weren’t enough. They betray you because that’s who they choose to be. Your empathy isn’t the problem. Ignoring patterns is. Healing isn’t learning to love less. It’s learning to recognise character sooner. Not everyone deserves another chance to prove you wrong. Some people have already shown you exactly who they are. Believe actions. Not promises. Not potential. Not the version of them you created in your hope. Protect your peace.
