Angel Acres eggs may be the lowest omega-6 eggs we’ve ever tested. But their 3:1 omega ratio on the carton didn’t survive our re-test. In December 2024, Nourish Food Club tested their own Angel Acres eggs against Vital Farms to prove low-PUFA eggs are possible. They hadn’t been independently retested since, so we sent them to our lab. The low-PUFA claim held up: - Linoleic acid: 6.4% of total fat vs 16.2% USDA reference - Total PUFAs: 68% lower than the USDA reference - Achieved via a custom corn- and soy-free feed The omega-3 claim didn’t: - Omega-3: 0.05 g per 100 g serving - Omega-6 to omega-3 ratio: 11:1 vs their claimed 3:1 - Omega-6 matched across both tests, omega-3 came back much lower in ours Even truly pastured hens get only 10-30% of calories from foraging, there’s no way to control how much each bird eats on pasture, and many farms only pasture-raise in warm months.
