@metrouk: 📚 Teachers in England are getting a pay rise. The government has announced that teachers will receive a 3.5% pay increase from September, followed by 3% the year after, alongside £1.8 billion in extra funding for schools. However, schools will have to cover the first 1% of each rise from their existing budgets. The government is also cracking down on academy boss salaries, with trusts needing approval for roles paying more than £174,000 and executives no longer able to receive bigger pay rises than classroom teachers.
Yeah but literally came out the other day that the energy price cap is rising again. % increase in wage means nothing when Everything else is rising faster.

But no money will be given to schools to pay for it, so schools will have to cut staff - just that same as always

Behind The Beard :
They are only doing this due to shortage to teachers and people leaving. What difference is the rise in salary when inflation has also risen. So, no one is better off financially!

it's not fully funded. schools need to find money to pay this rise. so in reality it probably won't happen

And the schools have to fund the 1% of that meaning we potentially lose our TAs; I couldn’t do this job without my team (I’m an SEN teacher and I always have 2-3 TAs)

What about associate staff like teaching assistants and lunchtime supervisors, this will just com at their expense same as the doctors pay rises, the year doctors got a pay lift all the nursing and support staff got tiny pay rises

wonderful news for teachers, now are they ever going to agree a much needed raise for T.As ?

Shahud Deen :
What that means in real terms is more staff redundancies and worse school budget deficits, as rises have to partially be funded from school budgets that are already stretched to their limits.

It’s pretty sick that the cost of living and inflation always rises more than wages. Just when we think we’re doing well in life everything gets exponentially more expensive 😅
