The rooftopping couple, known from Netflix’s Skywalkers: A Love Story, somehow made their way into the restricted antenna area of the New York landmark, 1,454 feet above Midtown Manhattan. Dressed in black, they unfurled a banner reading, “When the power of love beats the love of power, the world knows peace,” before climbing down to a lower platform, where Ivan got on one knee and appeared to propose to Angela. The moment was very them: cinematic, terrifying, romantic, and almost impossible to look away from. The couple have built their story around extreme climbs across the world, often without safety gear, turning rooftopping into both performance and a love language. Minutes later, the NYPD took them into custody. No injuries were reported, and the Empire State Building said the unauthorized incident did not endanger tenants, visitors or observation deck guests.
