The 3D animation visualizes the microbiomechanics of the central nervous system within a cranial window. During the systolic phase, the pial arteries undergo radial expansion, propagating a pulse wave across the cerebral cortex. The brain tissue rhythmically expands, elastically elevating the translucent arachnoid maternal membrane. During diastole, an elastic recoil of the vasculature and parenchyma occurs.
