I agree. Around 20–30% of African American women have iron deficiency, and because it’s often associated with fibroids, the drop in ferritin can be much more severe than regular ID. Low ferritin actively stalls hair growth by preventing hair follicles from entering and staying in the growth phase of the hair cycle.

Selling a dream is a multi-million dollar industry. Thank you for leveling with us, because it's unrealistic to think we're all in the same boat. Even the weather is a variable. Sooo many variables.

I think blood chemistry and nutrition is definitely a confounding variable that people cant really speak to when they share their experiences of what is working for them. Hair care can be standardized to a certain extent but at the end of the day we are not all working with the same material.

I'm older. My theory is if you didn't carry "long hair" into adulthood into childhood, most people aren't giong to grow it later. But maybe I'll surrprise myself.

As soon as my mom had a partial thyroid removal her hair started shedding and it stays at her shoulders. My grandmother went through the same and I know they always had long hair. There’s a LOT of factors.
