@luaandstone: My secret to a smooth cement mix every time! I start every small batch the same way, first I sift the pigments into the cement then I dry mix them together. Next, I slowly add water, a little at a time. I begin mixing with a spatula, add a bit more water, mix again, repeat. Then I move on to my favorite little tool, a mini whisk, this helps break up any lumps that I may have missed. The whisk works really well, but it does create air bubbles, so after that, I go back in with my spatula and mix for a few more seconds. The next step is VERY important: I let the mix sit for about a minute before pouring. This allows trapped air bubbles to rise to the surface and pop, resulting in fewer air bubbles in your final piece. Cement is a tricky material, but these small steps make a really big difference.
