On PC it is the developer's choice and responsibility as to where a game gets released and whether or not it gets a physical release. There is nothing stopping a developer from doing a physical release for their games, other than the fact that they just don't sell because most PCs don't have disc drives anymore. If a developer on PC wants a physical release, it's not hard to buy a cheap USB disc drive and install it from that, but if playstation ditches discs then there will be no way to install games even if a developer wanted a physical release.

pc store fronts don't really "compete" steam has basically a monopoly and pressures games to have the lowest price on their platform only, not to mention the sheet size of their market share, look at the money EGS burned through to try and get any percent of market share and still failed, GOG also has a tiny tiny amount of games that are DRM free, pc already lost the physical media fight years and years ago and isn't a platform to use to push back and in your argument as it actually weakens your demand for physical media to stay alive

PS4 was my last playstation. Sony have always gouged us. expensive controllers, expensive memory cards that will only work on their system. monthly fees to be able to play online. now they're locking down the only way to buy playstation games. unacceptable.

actually a game on steam can't be lower price elsewhere without getting taken off of steam, which does change the discussion since it's the biggest storefront and games can rarely afford to not be on steam

I have PC and PS5. I dont mind it going all digital as i only buy digital, however my one gripe with sony is the refund policy, I would be alot happier with one similar to steams 2 hour playtime no questions refund

I will NOT be getting a ps6 I will stick with my ps5 and ps4/3 and I am no longer buying digital games as of today as I’m sick of these shit companies making this hobby all about money and taking the soul and passion out of gaming. I love gaming so much and I know my refusal to buy digital games anymore won’t affect anything but it’s about principle as there are 100s of games I haven’t played yet that I can get second hand physically that I can play instead of any digital only game they release in the future so they have lost 1 lifelong customer as I have probably spent 1000s on games but I will no longer give them a penny I will only purchase second hand just so they don’t get anything
