We just did a 20 hour cross country move (Texas to Wisconsin) with my 2 and 4 year old daughters! Uhaul and all. We stopped half way to let them sleep for the night.

pack a portable toilet. my kids always had to pee when we were in the middle of no where 😂 we always left early found a park 4ish hours into the trip let the kids play, travel again during nap time, stop and eat dinner somewhere and find hotel hopefully with pool. and continue the next day same way. have cooler in car with favorite drinks & snacks for easy access. and i personally wouldn't pack everyone separately I'd pack backpacks for the day. say Mondays backpack has everyone's clothes ect for that day. so it's one bag and not 4 and I knew everyone had stuff for everyday. good luck gorgeous!

Our drive from NH-NC was 22hrs, we did NH-OH in about 12 hours, and then OH-MN in another 13! I suggest getting new toys for the car, and honestly iPads. My son never ever uses one in the house so it’s even more fun for a long ride! Colorwonder so they can color and make no mess!

We just moved across the country (AZ to FL) and we used the U-Boxes! It was the cheapest option for us (even compared to the trucks!) maybe check that option out? That way you don’t have to haul anything! Good luck with your move!

My family did this in November. All I can say is just roll with it! If things come up, deal with them as they happen. Snackle boxes are always a big hit for my kids. Have something fun for them every hour! Something they can do or play with that's new and exciting. Push as long as you can - it'll such at some points, but just drive until you can't drive anymore.

I would try to do it in 2 days and heavy on the first day. 12-14 hours the first day because the second day is always worse. I always pick up several little "gifts" or things from the dollar store etc. But a movie/tablet is definitely a sanity saver. We did a lot of lollipops for my twins, they take a long time to eat, I usually got dole ones as they don't have dyes and as much sugar. Earbuds for you...

Snackle boxes with favorite snacks and new snacks, unlimited screen time (downloaded movies) puff stickers are incredible and have a little box or bag of toys and books next to you that you can hand them as a distraction. You’ve got it! I also make sure I have plenty of shows/podcasts downloaded for myself to help with my own sanity

Go to dollar tree and get a bunch of junk snacks etc and wrap them up in wrapping paper and give one to them each every hour and keep the excitement alive

A bag with all new toys. Can be from the dollar tree even. Water coloring books. All the snacks. And tbh I’m not a mom above screentime in the car 😅. We drove from MO to NJ when my daughter just turned 2. 16-17 hours. Wasn’t bad, but we watched several movies on the way there. I couldn’t get back there with her because our car was loaded down, but she was a trooper. As someone else said, go as far as humanly possible day 1 because say 2 will likely be worse.

In my experience, divide the trip into 6-8 hour stints. Book hotels with pools so when you arrive, they can burn energy in the pool. Leave early so they can sleep in the early hours.

Stop every 2-3 hours for stretch and potty breaks, like 10 min. Do a longer break for lunch and play then they nap, etc to hotel stay.

I usually leave 2 ish hours before bedtime. by the time they wake up we are well into the journey. we do 18 hour, each way, trips one or twice a year. I pack a cooler with drinks and sandwiches. and then a bunch of snacks.

Get a portable dvd player for them. 1 video a day will also break up the trip. Should be something they have never seen. Highly recommend Doogle! Voices and music adults can appreciate and characters for the littles

Do your kids really hold their bladders that well? When I am towing something I won’t drive over about 62 mph, so with dogs we are usually covering about 350-400 miles per day. Try some kids audiobooks on Libby.

We had a membership to Franklin Institute which is a science museum in Philly. I’ve driven cross county with my kids several times at all ages. The museum membership has reciprocity with 100’s of museums (children’s, hands on, science, etc) so it was free. We would plan our stops based on the museums we would pass along the way. Kids of all ages find something to do. It’s indoors which means AC. We also did parks for picnic lunches. It was so easy and the museum breaks (even 45 min) were perfect to get their energy out. The same works for zoos. But in the summer, that can be hot.

Our first road trip with our girls- I bought/made these bags to hang on the back of the front seat with a bunch of pockets for their stuff to do- and I got these trays that go over them in the car seat with a cup holder and pockets so they could color and have a surface with a lip so stuff didnt fly all over. The books with the faces/dresses and stickers were the absolute best for them at that age.

They will actually do a lot better than you think. We’ve been doing like 10 hour drives with my little ones since he was a little baby and he’s always done great with it.

We are about to move as well and planning 6-8 hours of driving per day. A mid day stop for about an hour at a park. Chat GPT has helped plan the trip for us down to the hotels/ parks to stop at etc. Lots of snacks, a way to watch a movie, and random items from dollar tree to help with entertainment.

we do a 10 hour drive (each direction) with the littles at least once a year. my kids aren't car sleepers (if we're lucky we get like an hour) we tried driving through the night once and I feel like we got our biggest chunk knocked out that way, I'm considering buying my daughter a kids tablet for this year because she doesn't get to play with one unless she's at her friends house so it would be a fun treat for her and we can download some movies. It's mostly just really hard and I feel for them being stuck in car seats. I wish you all the best of luck on your drive! And I want to follow along for suggestions I can try too!
