Mamoru Takamura (Japanese: 鷹村 守, Takamura Mamoru) is a fictional character and the deuteragonist of the manga and anime series Hajime no Ippo (Fighting Spirit), created by George Morikawa. The manga began serialization in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine in October 1989. The first anime adaptation, produced by Madhouse, aired from October 2000 to March 2002. Takamura is voiced by Rikiya Koyama in Japanese and by Eddie Frierson in English . The story follows Mamoru Takamura, the estranged middle son of the wealthy Takamura Enterprises family. As a delinquent teenager, he was disowned after injuring over 20 people in a brawl and spent his days wandering the streets, getting into fights out of boredom. One night, former boxer Genji Kamogawa witnessed Takamura's raw power and invited him to join the Kamogawa Gym. With no prior training, Takamura made his professional debut and knocked out his opponent in under 25 seconds . Takamura is a multi-weight class champion who has conquered three weight classes to date. He held the WBC Junior Middleweight title and later unified the WBC and WBA Middleweight championships, becoming the only Japanese boxer in the series to hold two world titles simultaneously. He currently competes as the WBC Super Middleweight champion. His ultimate goal is to conquer six weight classes, from Junior Middleweight to Heavyweight. As of the latest manga chapters, his professional record stands at 28 wins, 0 losses, 0 draws, with all 28 wins coming by knockout . Takamura stands 185 cm (6'1") tall with a reach of 189 cm (74"). He fights from an orthodox stance as a hybrid boxer capable of handling both in-fighters and out-boxers. Unlike most boxers in the series, Takamura has no signature finishing blow — every punch he throws possesses devastating knockout power. He has demonstrated this by knocking out a wild bear with his bare fists during a mountain training camp, earning him the nickname "The Bear Slayer" . Despite his prodigious natural talent, he is known for his rigorous training regimen and painful weight management. Coach Kamogawa has stated that even before entering boxing, Takamura already possessed power on par with the Japanese champion . Takamura is characterized by his loud, arrogant, and vulgar personality. He refers to himself as Ore-sama (オレ様), a grandiose first-person pronoun, and constantly bullies his gymmates — particularly Masaru Aoki and the protagonist Ippo Makunouchi — by mocking their achievements, making crude jokes, and playing elaborate pranks. Despite this, he is deeply respected as the unspoken emotional leader of the Kamogawa Gym and serves as a big brother figure to Ippo, whom he originally introduced to boxing. His true kindness occasionally leaks through, such as when he gave his championship belts to Coach Kamogawa, knowing the old man never achieved a world title during his own career . Takamura lives alone in a messy apartment cluttered with junk, expired food, pornography, and his boxing belts. He has an insatiable appetite for women but is paradoxically afraid of ghosts and the occult . Takamura is widely considered the strongest pound-for-pound boxer in the Hajime no Ippo universe, with creator George Morikawa describing him as the ideal blend of athleticism, technique, intelligence, and instincts. His signature entrance music is the theme from Ultra Seven, and he is known for his flashy entrance costumes — most notably wearing the pelt of the bear he killed during his title match against Bryan Hawk .#viral #fyp #takamura
