The first time i started having this conversation with people is when i watched videos of people training their pets to communicate or “speak” with words through buttons. Adding food for thought here: given you provide the appropriate tools, does teaching pets to communicate with humans through buttons expand their consciousness to match ours? 👀

this is also called linguistic relativity, there's a 10/10 radiolab episode called "words" about deaf kids inventing their own language. linguistic relativity is kinda how language helps us expand the depth of our understanding about the world and everything
