Mushroom, in one of his many questionable accounts, claimed that the prince held affections for Lord Corlys Velaryon's bastard son. The maesters dismissed the tale as yet another of the fool's scandalous inventions, and the official histories speak only of a deep friendship between the two dragonriders. Yet the singers tell a different story. To this day, the halls and taverns of Westeros echo with songs of Aemon and Addam, the young riders who soared side by side beneath golden skies, accompanied by Venus and Seasmoke. Some call them brothers-in-arms. Others, inseparable companions. But those who listen closely to the old songs know the truth. No man would ride through fire and blood for another as they did, unless love dwelled in his heart.
