Maybe they had a simple trick: After all the precise calculations dig few wells to reach bottom. Then start sculpting from the sides and going. They probably didn’t carve the entire temple top down. Something simple like. But they had one difficult rule if any portion got damaged then it is not worthy for gods. That’s a very hard rule. There are numerous temples in India we just don’t know how they did them.
