A doctor who hasn’t managed to establish the patients agenda and leaves it to the patient to mention as they’re leaving the room has done a good job or a bad job…? Certainly I have patients who test the water before mentioning things, but establishing the agenda for the appt needs to take place at the start. Asking the question “anything else?” In the 11th minute of a 10 minute appt is just going to get everyone upset. The patient shouldn’t be left to “doorstop” moments as we call them. I appreciate the point is the cheap joke.
