Can I give a tip from a psychology point of view, if you said I’ve been looking forward to seeing you rather than I’ve missed you it doesn’t make the child responsible for your emotions. Unfortunately our children can hear I missed you as I shouldn’t leave you and it can lead to struggles further down the line xx

When you get home with her instead of Caitlin immediately saying “I missed you so much” she should try saying hello and asking if she had fun with you first and then say she was thinking of her whilst she was gone!!

I’d love everyone in the comments yo understand that a child having a primary attachment is NORMAL and also SO important for attachment development. We are supposed to have one primary attachment in early years to help us feel secure and learn to attach to then go off and make other attachments. If Leah was the dad no one would be commenting or criticising…
