How to actually use this at your next event 👇 Why it works When someone helps you, they start to feel like they're on your side. Franklin figured this out in 1736. It's still one of the most underrated networking moves there is. Keep the ask: 1. Small. Something they can answer in under a minute. 2. About what they know. Their experience, not their money. 3. Easy to say yes to. No jobs, no intros, no favors on the first conversation. 5 questions you can use this week At a dinner or high society event: → "If you were my age again, what would you do first?" → "How did you know it was time to go out on your own?" With someone senior at work: → "How would you handle this client?" → "What's one book that changed how you work?" After a talk or panel: → "What's something you didn't get to say up there?" Then follow up This is the part almost nobody does. Within two weeks, send: "Hi [name], it's [you] from [event]. I tried your advice on [X] and it worked. Thank you." That's Franklin giving the book back with a note. Now he's not just someone you met once. He's a mentor who wants to see how your career turns out. Don't: ✗ Ask something you could've Googled ✗ Ask for a favor two minutes into the conversation ✗ Disappear after they help you Save this before your next networking event 📌 Asking the right question gets you in. What you say when they ask "So, what do you do?" decides if they remember you. That's what The Unwritten Rules is for. Link in bio.
