I do it, every single day. For 5 years now. I’m 41. The first year was the hardest. I needed to condition myself to my new life. A lot of tears. But the day comes, where you adapt. I can’t take a day off. But I am where I want to be. It’s hard. It takes a toll on physical and mental health. But that woman would have moved mountains for me when I was growing up. And I will be damned if I don’t give that back to her. Me. Myself. And I.

Taking care of my mom. Very challenging. I will never send her to an assisted living. As hard as it is and yes, they become child-like, I know she is better off in my care.

There’s so much more to consider like puréed food & changing adult diapers not everyone is capable of doing this

My mom had PSP with Lewy Body. We cared for her at home. Now she has been gone 3 years and I still have my Dad home with me. Every issue with him is physical, will never go to a “home” but he is harder to care for than my mother was. At 87, in extreme pain, can barely walk, but still farms daily. Refuses to do things any way but his own way. Says his doctors are just waiting for him to die instead of helping him.
