Every house sorts you based on what you VALUE, not necessarily what you are. Hermione would absolutely do well in Ravenclaw but she values bravery more. It's also why Peter and Neville get sorted into Gryffindor. They're not brave (well Neville is definitely braver than he realizes but Peter is a complete coward) but both of them VALUE bravery and want to be brave so the hat puts them in Gryffindor. And I agree with you on Luna. She's smart but not necessarily book smart. Her intelligence comes from her creativity and her right brained thinking. Her ability to think outside the box. Not all intelligence is measured by logic. Creativity is absolutely an important measure of intelligence and Luna embodies that very well.

Just say you never ever opened the books. Ravenclaw is LITERALLY for the smart. The hat WANTED to put her there. Same as it wanted Harry in slyrherin. Hermione chose gryffindor just like Harry

Hermione won't be in ravenclaw because she was not a very open minded person, she doesn't believe in anything that can't be seen and proven by books or authorities. She is smart yes, but ravenclaw also values curiosity and open mindedness. And from the books itself you can see on how she interacts with luna, always contradicting luna from what she believes on because hermione can't see it or read it on the books. Also with the thestrals, when harry can see it she doesn't believe it because she can't see it. Hermione's personality is heavily leaning on facts, legitimacy and authority.

Luna is actually extremely intelligent tho! Emotionally, spiritually with impeccable intuition, and she also learns and adapts extremely quickly. Her insight into others is also at a genius level

It’s as simple as Hermione having stronger griffendor qualities then ravenclaw. Hermione loves learning but she’s more brave and seeks adventure more than wanting to learn.

also Hermione isn't researching new ideas, she memorizes what others have created. This is why Harry using the Half-blood Prince potion instructions outperforms Hermione, who is simply following the official instructions everyone else accepts
