In 1987 I was with my friends at a restaurant on the Sacramento River. Newly engaged wearing my beautiful ring, I just left the restroom, and my hands were still damp from washing. As I sat down at the table, I flicked my hand slightly, and my ring literally flew off my finger bounced on the table, and plopped into the river. It was as if it were in slow motion. My friend acted quickly, looking up numbers for local divers. He arrived and said he would dive for 55 minutes. I tossed a nickel in the water where the ring dropped and down he went. We watched painfully as the minutes ticked by. Watching bubbles come up from time to time, 50 minutes later, a rush of bubbles and he comes up, holds on to the pier and removes his aspirator, coughing a bit. He didn’t seem to have anything in his hands and I felt my heart sink- then he help up his hand and on his pinky was my engagement ring!! The entire restaurant cheered and I cried tears of joy! Best money I ever spent
