@amywoodsfitness: How to save your run when you are running in the heat but don’t want to cut it short. #runningintheheat #heattraining #runtok #marathon
I had 10mi on Saturday with rolling hills, it was 98°, 84% humidity, yadda yadda🫣 those hills definitely all became my walk breaks, but we kept moving and we got all 10 done!🥹😎😎

I freeze a mix of 1/2 water 1/2 pickle juice. It melts during the run but still very cold.

Hey Amy, would you recommend referencing power data in the heat/humidity as an indicator of exertion? I just had a tough run in 90+ degree heat and my heart rate was much higher than normal, but my Garmin said my power zones were mainly in Z1/Z2, which, based on my pace, seems like it’d be accurate if it wasn’t so hot out. Wondering if maybe a combo of HR zones + power zones is more effective tool in the heat?

I fill out my bladder with ice and then put water in it. It won’t last the whole run but it keeps you cold for an hour? I’ll take feeling really cold for an hour. Also I’ve seen ppl use an ice bandana when they are on the track.

10 miles in Falmouth yesterday wasn’t fun! I had to take a few walk breaks and extra salt tabs … got it done though

Needed this…felt I failed yesterday when I took some walk breaks but with temps in 100°+, I listened to my body and even though it was an east 3.5 miles, I walked when my body needed it!

I bring a water bottle sprayer in the car coach and just spray myself while also fueling and drinking electrolytes and water. Easy affordable and quick.

I’m training for my first half and am breastfeeding. I need to take a gel or something in the middle of short (40 min) runs so I don’t tank. Is there any harm to “over fueling”?

Is there any temperature that we should start running on a treadmill so like an “unsafe” temperature to be running at

I have a 4 mile race on Saturday and right now we’re between 90-100 with 90% humidity. I’m fairly new to running so don’t want to underestimate how much water I need. How much extra do you drink the day before? Should I add electrolytes?

I was supposed to do 7 today in NY but I could only muster 5.50. I should have done a walk run to finish. Now I know for next time.

I run in the morning when people have lawn sprinklers going, of course if the water hits the sidewalk or street, I’m running through them.
