@couponkiduk: Hotels DON’T Want You To Know This Hack 👀👇🏻 If you book a hotel stay which includes ‘Free Cancellation’ - you could use this as a trick to save you money. Even after you’ve booked, check back at the website you booked through to see if prices change. If the price drops, you can cancel your original booking, get your money back, and rebook at the cheaper price! It’s worth having a look at prices around 2 months, 2 weeks and 5 days before you travel (although check when your last day for free cancellation is. Most are up to about 48 hours before). I once got £400 off a week’s hotel stay by using this trick. So it could pay a lot to check! It won’t work every time, but set a reminder in your phone, and spend a few minutes to potentially save £100s! Hope this helps! Follow for more tricks to save money 🙂👆🏻

Free cancellation bookings are almost always more expensive than non-refundables. Usually when the free cancellation period is up (a few days before arrival) I cancel the original booking and rebook the cheaper non-refundable tarif, giving me free cancellation for several weeks up until the trip without committing but still getting the lower price in the end. There's no point committing a month before when you can effectively reserve the room and still be able to cancel.

it works! but doing it by hand is a pain. There are free tools like Arbitrica that watch the rate and auto rebook you when it drops. Voila

I do it now for November and December bookings. So far one is cheaper. But I always book first the new one and cancel the old one later. Just in case. The next step is figuring out how far before the check-in they release the extra fee for free cancellation. I’m planning to turn this cost into half board rather than having “ only rooms”.
