Idk but art community online has been crap for a long time it's worse since TikTok became a thing. But in general online art community was always so quick to get into fights over stupid sh*t. Art isn't for internet in my opinion... People can easily get insecure and jealous, and judgmental. It's sad that not everyone have old timy atelier communities like Im fortunate to have around here. It's sad how everything has to be a trand, draining soul out of even artists.

Idm trends but I DESPISE this “oh uwu you wouldn’t even want to look at my art🥺” or “Oh hey! …Oh yeah just keep scrolling no cares” sounds that come back every couple of months. Stop doing that, its weird, mean to your audience and self pittying as hell. I will unfollow anyone who posts stuff like that cause its not cute it’s actively predatory

I just thought about this!!! Social Media, specifically TikTok was never built for actually recognising talented artists, it is inherently dysfunctional when it comes to promoting art in general, because it was never meant to be an art platform. It may advertise itself as such (as a hook for aspiring artists) but it becomes apparent what is actually prioritised when you look at the numbers. It’s almost stupid how obvious it is 😭 TikTok, and other platforms alike, exist solely to entertain and to turn your mind off, meaning almost everybody wether artist or not will likely only interact with what entertains them immediately. This has been proven and talked about many times but I find it truly difficult to actually live with because it still subconsciously impacts how you view your own art and skillset 🙁

I agree wholeheartly with your opinion. Moreover, because of this issue, I often ended up doubting my skillset. Worse, I'm living in a country whose government keep pushing generative ai usage (Malaysia). This fact actually worsen my mental health overall. So yes, I sincerely hope there will be solutions for artists in the future.

that’s the reality of social media, and it goes for everyone not just artists, the average person doesn’t want or isn’t interested in watching speedpaints and thats normal, there has to be something to engage with in order for you to gain exposure. art isn’t a need like food and water or shelter is, for you to do business you have to create the need for your art, it has always been that way even before social media

while I don't reach big numbers I find more joy in drawing what I want and posting it on here rather than drawing what TikTok wants. I don't see the point in not drawing for yourself even if it does get you the big numbers. I've been on here for two years and I think the highest amount of likes I've got in a video is 6k, and I'm ok with that
