parasocial just refers to the feeling of connection and attatchment u have with something that isn't in your physical life (an idol, a fictional character, etc...something that doesnt love u back but u have a bond with). People have turned it into the new "delusional" or to referring to stalkers and ppl who dont understand boundaries. by definition we are ALL parasocial but people have ruined this word and its so annoying

I think that they think parasocial means being obsessed with someone. Most of the time they fail to understand that there are levels to parasociality and that there are also loving and hating aspects to it, since it’s all about a one sided relationship.
