@offenceregister: Alan Nicholson High Harrington Paedophile Sex Offender In 2023, Alan Nicholson, a High Harrington paedophile, snared in a police sting as he plotted the abuse of two youngsters, has had his prison sentence extended. High Harrington resident Alan Nicholson, 53, believed he was speaking with a mother of two online, but in reality, he was speaking with an undercover police officer. In December, he was found guilty of trying to set up a child sex crime and sentenced to three years in prison. The Court of Appeal increased the sentence to five years and nine months after finding it to be excessively light. Det. Sgt. James Bailey of the Cumbria Constabulary praised the lengthier term, saying, "We will not tolerate those carrying out such crimes and will continue to do what we can to target those offending in this way and bring them to justice." In September 2021, Nicholson had online talks with a woman named Louise about a serious sexual assault he planned to do against her imaginary daughters, a four-month-old and a five-year-old. But Louise was an undercover police officer from Cumbria Constabulary's internet and digital crime branch. Nicholson, who was also placed on the sex offenders register and given a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years, will now serve almost double his original term.
