@blackpearlmassage: No, I can’t undo a lifetime of wear & tear in just 60 mins ! | Lauren - Gilbert, AZ LMT If you haven’t had a massage in a few years, I would advise not doing deep tissue. Why? I’ve been seeing many TikTok‘s on my fyp, regarding immense pain and feeling ill after a deep tissue massage. Deep tissue, especially after such a long time of having no bodywork, is not for everyone. When you get a massage, we redistribute lactic acid, inflammation, and recirculate lymphatic drainage. So, if you ever had too deep of a massage and felt like you had the flu… yes, it indeed was too deep for your body! You also could feel crappy because you did not drink any water. That’s also very important. Before and after a massage, your fascia needs hydration to perform at it’s most optimal gel-like state. Also, is if you are super tense and could benefit from deep tissue, you need to ease into it. At most, I would recommend firm pressure for your very first massage, if you can handle deep tissue pressure. What makes up tension, trigger points, and inflammation is your nervous system. Massage is more than just hands-on muscles, we’re also activating the parasympathetic nervous system. Our bodies protect us, our muscles know what to do when we’ve had something traumatic happen. Please ease yourself into the wonderfulness of massage therapy! #massagetherapy #az #massagetherapist #gilbertaz #smallbusinessowner
