Most of the symptoms of post partum depression are also the symptoms of high prolactin….. it’s Natural to feel this way.

And when you stop breastfeeding after 2,5 years you go insane, because prolactin drops to zero. So does oxitocin. Good luck 😭😭😭

This hasn’t happened to me at all (4 months breastfeeding) I feel the opposite actually, I feel relaxed, at peace and so much more chill than when I was pregnant.

Hi!!!! This came across my page I think cos I talk about prolactin a lot! So important to talk about these things but that graph you shared shows days post partum! And actually prolactin drops to near baseline levels in most mums around 4-8 months. (Which is why periods/ovulation etc return!) prolactin is actually phasic!! But that emotion you’re talking about is sooooo real! Could be due to so many other body processes cos all parents experience it regardless of lactation status! By the way, Thanks for all the work you do! Doulas are so essential for every woman/birthing parent to have beside them!

Okay, but I’ve been continually breastfeeding for almost 4 years and have another 2 to go. When one weens the next is born. What does long term prolactin do to you?
