I know Bundesliga isn’t the greatest but literally Dortmund just made the UCL final 2 years ago. Casuals are just quick to say whatever they want. Bundesliga is arguably better than La Liga. Also a Bundesliga team went to the Europa league final. Football larpers love to hop on mainstream takes that are pushed out by La Liga and Premier League PR.

i think you're biased because bayern has a deeper role in what you're talking about the same way a team in the Bundesliga is not able to say no to clubs in the premier league nowadays is the same way the can't say no to bayern and bayern continues to take from them

and the funniest thing is that even still, bayern could still lose their players if a big club from other leagues approached them. I'm sure that most of their team would dip if City, Madrid (i lowk have a feeling Olise will go after the WC), Barca, PSG came calling.

I think you are missing the point. The Bundesliga is becoming ligue 1 in terms of competitiveness. Yes the overall level might be higher but non -bayern players barely aspire to win the league anymore. Dortmund has essentially become a academy for 20 years olds. But the dfb has other problems beyond that for sure.

I think Bayern was the last saving grace for Germany and they were destined for that downfall. In 2014 most of the German squad were Bayern and Dortmand players, now Bayern have like 3 German starters. That 2014 squad was special because of the chemistry playing a whole season together. Same thing with Spain they were so strong in 2010 because most of the team were Barca players during one of Barca’s strongest eras. When the players started to exit their prime and new players entered, that chemistry was gone.

It’s not the downfall of German football per se. It is a situation similar to Serie A in Italy. The problem is the wealth and the power to purchase players at premium prices by a few Uber wealthy teams such as Man City, ManU, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Barcelona. Combine that with the limited opportunities of young and upcoming players and the influx of international players, you have a situation where you become uncompetitive.

I read this somewhere but I agreed, the selling is a problem but also, it’s that the teams that used to produce talent have been declining. Wolfsburg, Werder Bremen,etc.

The 50+1 rule adds to the weakening of the bundesliga while many other teams and/or leagues including the premier league have been injecting billions through their owners. The cost of players have become ridiculous because these teams just arent satisfied with €30m, for example. Recently, we had Anderson go for what, like €130m??
