Classic Homemade Flatbread Recipe Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour, 3/4 cup warm water, 2 tablespoons olive oil, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon baking powder, and 1 teaspoon sugar. Instructions: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, baking powder, and sugar. Add the warm water and olive oil, then mix until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let it rest for 20–30 minutes. Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and roll each piece into a thin, round or oval flatbread. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and cook each flatbread for 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown spots appear and the bread becomes soft and slightly crispy around the edges. Brush lightly with olive oil or melted butter, sprinkle with fresh herbs if desired, and serve warm with hummus, cheese, roasted vegetables, grilled meat, or your favorite dipping sauce.
