@avionic_stan: "Oxygen Container Replacement" If there is a sudden loss of cabin pressure, emergency oxygen containers supply emergency oxygen to the passengers and the cabin attendants. Each emergency oxygen container has a solid-state chemical oxygen-generator and two or more continuous-flow oxygen masks. When the door latch gets an electrical signal from the oxygen control and actuation circuit, the doors of the emergency oxygen containers will open. The oxygen masks will fall out of the containers and hang on the lanyards near the person who will use it. The passengers or crew members pull the oxygen masks to their face. This action makes the lanyard pull a release pin installed on the firing pin of the chemical oxygen generator. The firing pin moves into the oxygen generator. This causes the ignition and reaction of the chemicals within the oxygen generator and starts the supply of oxygen. The oxygen will flow through the flexible supply hoses to the oxygen masks. The chemical oxygen generator will supply a flow of low pressure oxygen for a minimum time of 15 minutes. If the altitude pressure switch fails, you can operate the system with OXYGEN/MASK MAN ON pushbutton switch. This switch is installed in cockpit overhead panel 21VU.
