two things to add. early access games and game reviews. the reviews on steam are more accurate than any of the official game reviews from like ign and all them.

once feature I've gotten a lot of use of is "Remote play Together" basically it's couchcoop/Split screen offline games, but online. You Livestream the game, and your friends can connect and play the game with you. played a great many Beat em ups with friends this way.

steam is the only digital store I actually trust 😅 Maybe it's Stockholm syndrome as I've been using it for over a decade but it's how a digital library should be handled. The fact that even games that have been delisted from the store, so never able to be purchased again, can still be downloaded if you have it in your account

offline play is one of the biggest things about steam. had no power or cellular one day so I booted up my laptop to play btd6 on epic. epic couldn't verify that I owned the game without internet so it wouldn't let me play it. a game that I own on my account and have installed on my device through said account which doesn't have any sort of online requirement at all, couldn't launch because of epic

This dude didn't even mentioned what makes steam great lol.. its the community that already there probably more than 20 years.. community guide, discussion and also the mods from the community itself.. its massive, just look at the game that currently viral like Meccha Chameleon.. they have bunch of map coming from community.. imported from other games etc.. you can customize your own profile and make it more personal.. you dont need subscription to play online or using cloud server...

To expand on "remote play together". You can quite literally own a local coop game like overcooked and only you need the copy to that game and you can invite your friends. They get the game streamed and have their own inputs and can play local play together. Only one needs to own that game. Also the customer support is better than any company

I played Stardew Valley for 1068 hours before realising it was in my brother's library and not mine 🤣 The shared library is insane. Also remote play is so cool for coop games, I don't think we would have played that much escape games or puzzle games without that option.

unfortunately for offline mode, there are a ton of games that require internet connection to play them. it's super frustrating having to connect to the internet on my steamdeck and load the game before going offline so I can play it on the go. off the top of my head, EA, Atlus, and Ubisoft games do this. 😭

built in mods support/shop for some games, constant discounts, biggest indie library, sharing games, community tabs, market and back in the day i remember using built in steam voice chat and text chat, you could even make groups there so multiple people coul talk at once, it was discord before discord
