You are correct. I sold my house in 2020 to live with my partner and that did not work out. I am now and have been, priced out of purchasing. I technically could purchase a house- but the math does not math on it. I’d be strapped for cash so tight, be super stressed with the extra costs of homeownership and what I could buy- I honestly do not want bc I feel it’s a rip off. I have decided renting is a better option for now. I have even looked at trying to purchase something like a studio to rent out just to have an investment and tax credit, but this isn’t an option either bc I would barely cover the mortgage on a rental by gouging my renters 😝

The s&p’s return now will be much higher than owning a home. Why? Because salaries are SO LOW no one can buy a house. So it’s not like the 1900s where salaries were so much higher in relation to buying a house
