the buddha has an exact story of this of him meeting a wandering ascetic who simply did not care the buddha told him he achieved enlightenment. those who are dismissive of krishnamurti tend to get confused by his oratic and circulatory nature of speaking to reinforce points. ironically, krishanamurti always reminded me of the buddha by the way they both rejected their respective titles / advantages in favor of simply speaking and teaching their own truths. krishnamurti is also like Nietzsche in the sense that no matter how much knowledge and esoteric wisdom you consume, it is nothing without your own lived experience to coalesce yourself into a fully self-actualized being that sheds it masters as you become your own. Nietzsche: "One repays a teacher badly if one always remains nothing but a pupil.”

He makes no sense at all . Does not a Buddhist practitioner practice the Buddha’s teachings ? His assumption that the Buddhist scholar in front of him will not listen to the Buddha is absurd . In other words he is saying that the scholar has studied and contemplated but has understood nothing . Which actually means he himself has done some readings on Buddhism but has understood nothing and assumes that everyone’s the same . There is a saying in Tibetan ‘ the most intellect can sometimes be the most ignorant ‘ . Intelligence is one thing , wisdom another . If you don’t apply wisdom to intelligence , intelligence can be become an obstruction to seeing the truth .

The point he made, according to me, is that the world of thought can be such an illusion that even if you would meet the Buddha you would not listen to him because you are so caught up in your learned, or should i say borrowed, wisdom.
