@sophia.saves_: Is it actually realistic to road trip through the Canadian Rockies (Banff, Yoho, and Jasper) for 10 days for under $1,500 in the summer? Any tips would be v appreciated 🫶 #PersonalFinance #travelonabudget #budget #moneytok
If you need an app to track your trip you should definitely check out Bento on the iOS App Store! 😁

I’m staying in Calgary and renting a car for my 4 days trip. Flight was $90, hotel about $400. I used some points and rewards. I think be below a grand.

Summer travel costs can add up fast, especially when lodging and gas are part of the plan.

it's kind of tight tbh, if you could buffer in extra $500, it'll be more breathable
(don't forget emergency situations as well)

As someone who lives in Alberta hostels or camping would probably be your best bet a crappy hotel is 100$ a night even higher in touristy areas activities also range from 30-90$ depending on what you do and as for food you can probably expect to spend at least 15$ a meal I would recommend either increasing your budget a bit more or staying for a shorter time I think it’s definitely better to have quality over quantity in this case

It might be possible if you stay in a hostel and use public transport but it’ll be really hard to access to many places so better to drive

Are you going with anyone? Are you staying at 1 site or driving between places? What is your type of vacation? (Like do you hike? Want to visit a hotspring or spa? Or go to a dude ranch and have an experience?) for $1500 it'll be tight but I feel it's doable if you pick 1 or 2 experiences (like a spa) and spend the rest of the 10 days just enjoying the scenery on hikes or driving. $15-$20 per meal if your eating out. MEC does offer a gear rental in Calgary. And if youre visiting durring the summer here make sure youve got travle insurance that covers fire evacuations. The rest of this year might be pretty dry.

The cheapest is a road trip where you’re sleeping in your vehicle. Maybe sleeping in a tent. But sleeping in a vehicle open the door to mixing in free options. But what is your plan? Are you flying from another province? Is that part of the $1500? Are you done renting a vehicle? Is that out of the same money?

Love this! I am planning a trip to Portugal and my goal is to not spend more than $1500 USD, all in. I guess we’ll both see! Safe travels
