@flying4aliving: Replying to @user1165863367967 Why is the Boeing 737 cabin so much warmer on the ground than in the air? #travel #Traveltip #airplane #airline #Boeing737

I was recently on a flight (boarded) when after 30 minutes the pilot rejected the plane because we could not get the internal temp

Other than fuel savings, why aren't APUs running to provide continuous cooling? Can they not run until the packs are turned back on after takeoff? Leaving DAL is excruciating this time of year 🔥

Not me being a Gas Turbine navy vet and completely understanding what you’re saying. Example: we use bleed air to start other engines on the ships and we have to rev up to do it.

This happened on my last flight, they had to wait in boarding to cool the cabin

Or you can be like Alaska that refuses to turn on the APU while they wait for maintenance to bring back their log book to save fuel, then sit on the taxi way for 30 mins because they were over max takeoff weight and needed to burn off fuel 🤷‍♂️🤣

I've always wondered how the packs turn hot high pressure air into cold conditioned air

In the AR JAY. On approach you’ll notice the whooshing of air (from around idle power to 40-50% N1.) That’s the opening and closing of the valve from 6th to 10th stage bleed air.
