The food he was eating was full of gut wall damaging lectins. If he wants to heal he needs to change his diet. The diet is what did this to him.

It's not surprising after completely avoiding the Sun eating only vegetables and no meat in his diet ofc he will develop this kind of disease he needs to go to a primal diet no one is a vampire aging is a part of life and he thinks he can completely avoid it it's impossible to avoid aging
