@vagabondartist: Moving out of the United States was a conscious decision to live a richer life by having less. The problem is the US economy is designed to make you unhappy so they can convince you that your next purchase will give your life meaning. Do you have to move out of the US to have a more meaningful life? no but you do need to realize that meaning doesn’t come from accumulated more, it comes from needing less. ##anxiety##happiness##islandlife##unitedstates##meaning
The only thing I like to buy is flights and cruises. Wife and I love to travel

In 2017 sold the big house, got rid of the unneeded stuff. Wife and I lived in an RV for 3 yrs then a boat. The amount of money we saved was crazy and it allowed me to retire at 58. Now I’m traveling, learning new things and doing the things I’ve always wanted to do but never had time for! Every word of this video is absolutely spot on!

This is the reason why I am choosing a different environment for my daughter. We are expatriating to The Netherlands next spring and we are so grateful for the opportunity to join the community and learn

I’m slowly waking up to know that all of these things are meaningless. It’s hard because it’s so deep wired into my brain. But this video is so damn true

My mother used to say over and over when I was growing up that it was so sad when people work their entire life and "have nothing to show for it." Meaning they didn't acquire the big house, expensive cars, and nice clothes. That never made sense to me. Life should be about the experiences you have and the people you surround yourself with.

I car camped for a year while traveling the country and had no space to purchase things. The sadness I would feel when I would walk into a store made me realize how we have all been conditioned and led like sheep by capitalism. You don’t in fact need that one more thing.

I see this in companies as well. I worked for a company that had 5,000 employees for 25 years. It wasn't growing. We were happy. We enjoyed what we had. We had enough. The owner retired. The new owner needed more staff, more work, more, more, more. Everyone is unhappy.

So incredibly true!! We sold our big house, no mortgage on our small house, just retired and now we travel to experience our life instead of buying things. I wish I would have realized this twenty years ago but better late than never. 👍😁👍

Well said! Most are obsessed with more and more purchases. I moved from Omaha, NE where many people spend their free time out shopping or consuming food at bars and restaurants. A year ago I moved to Dillon CO in the mountains and live very frugally and spend my free time outdoors hiking, camping and skiing in the winter
