Me and my peers (we're 5) are senior software engineers, 10 years+ of experiences. We built ourselves living life better when no one paid us. We don't want any involvement of being a software engineer on how we spend our free time. That's the true answer.

very good filter. it reveals evidence to the question "How much do you love engineering?" You cannot "create passion" inside of someone else... But if it's already there, then it can be harnessed.

I have been listening to you for several months now. you have been a sane voice that helped keep me grounded as I learned to build. the voice that kept me asking, "what is the question that I don't know how to ask" as I continued to add to my understanding. I would credit your videos for helping me understand that I am largely building nice, full stack demos - not ready software. This video lands differently than your other videos. This video asks the viewer to ask themselves, "who am I?" rather than "what am I doing?"

I just going to put aside the fact your cadence sounds like ChatGPT… because I agree with you but also disagree with you. The thing is it depends on what sort of personality you want for the role. The person you described makes a good innovative leader. But they are not always the most disciplined because they are seeking challenge and novelty. There is another personality type of lead engineer that is a very good collaborator but maybe not a good initiator. These people are the people you want on your team to help you focus your projects. Otherwise if you hire 10 people each with 10 unfinished GitHub projects you’ll just be left with 100 unfinished GitHub projects.

You sounds like a my previous employer in outstaffing company, they gave me an opportunity to add to my CV work experience on their open source project without compensation until they find me a paid project, thank you but I am not interested in it. Am I bad engineer? It maybe, but I got two offers after 1 month of job search and this is enough for me to not feel imposter syndrome

I built me a guitar tab scroller that uses all the viewport, whether small or large and renders the notes dynamically. No more constraints on having say 3 measures wide. If I have a vertical monitor I use all the width. Landscape same. I’m 10 feet away, zoom in. Sorry… you asked 😁
