@baldbeardedbookworm: Replying to @Gangsta_Gramps Every human being deserves 100% of the value of their labor and the freedom to apply that labor where it is most valuable to the laborer. If an employer cannot afford to give the laborer what they are owed, then that employer does not deserve to have employees. #baldbeardedbookworm #labor #work #socialism #communism

No one who agrees with the commenter's opinion would bat an eye if a mom and pop shop was forced to close down because it couldn't afford to purchase the materials needed to sell their goods or perform their services. Labor is an essential element

Hey, so guy does have a real point in that there are a lot of small businesses that could not keep their doors open without exploiting their workers. And we want small businesses. Everyone wants less corporate ownership, not more. But that doesn’t excuse exploitation. It means we have to be more creative in our solutions. Universal basic income could help. Single payer healthcare would significantly reduce the burden on small employers. Subsidized child care would be huge. Maybe we even talk about a direct cash payment for employers of businesses under a certain threshold. We don’t have to just eliminate small businesses to get large corporations under control.

this is a long outdated argument. we're not buying stuff with script at the company store anymore. not making a "livable wage" is a personal choice at this point. if you want more money, you have to make your labor more valuable

As long as you continue to believe the absurd notion that you should be paid what you believe your value is instead of what the positions/task value is, than it’s moot to continue this discussion

😁😁😁Irrational and illogical. I owned a a small bakery for 12 years. The bakery was never going to make millions. That wasn’t the intention. It was just a place peope can get Italian pastries at a reasonable price. I had a lot of business, but that didn’t change the fact that I can only charge $2 for a cannoli. The business required staff to be able to serve the customer efficiently. Unless I was charging $15 for a cannoli, the revenue wouldn’t support liveable wages. That doesn’t mean it was wage slavery. It just meant that the position wasn’t meant for a person to survive life with. It was meant for kids looking for gas money, retirees looking for something to do, SSI recipients that weren’t allowed to earn more than a certain amount
