@ivy.schuett: Lena didn’t like arriving in new places without a plan. So before boarding her flight to Rio, she had prepared a detailed list: Tourist attractions, ideal lighting hours, specific beaches, photogenic cafés, historic streets. Everything organized into categories. Everything under control. Or at least it was supposed to be. But Rio seemed to quietly laugh at every attempt at control. That afternoon, Lena left her hotel intending to photograph the shoreline of Ipanema. Her camera hung around her neck, her hair was tied back carelessly, and her mind was filled with routes that were already beginning to lose their meaning. The heat was different. It wasn’t just temperature. The air itself seemed alive. She walked without noticing the time passing. Children chased kites. A group played frescobol by the shore. Vendors sold coconut water. Everything happened at once, without hurry, as if the city breathed to its own rhythm. Lena lifted her camera instinctively. Click. A wet dog shaking sand in every direction. Click. An elderly woman laughing while trying to take a selfie. Click. A bicycle leaning against a crooked palm tree. But still, none of the photographs felt right. It was beautiful. Yet something was missing. Something escaped every frame. As though Rio refused to fit inside a lens. She sighed and lowered her camera. That was when she noticed the movement. People were beginning to walk in the same direction, as if responding to a silent call. Curious, Lena followed them. She climbed over a cluster of rocks at the end of the beach and found a larger group gathered there. Couples sitting shoulder to shoulder. Tourists with crossed legs. Friends sharing bottles of water and quiet conversations. All of them looking toward the same place. The horizon. Lena followed their gaze. And immediately understood. The sun was descending. Slowly. Almost reluctantly. The sky unfolded into impossible layers of gold, orange, pink, and violet. The ocean reflected every color like a living mirror. For a moment, Lena forgot about her camera, her schedule, and why she had even left the hotel. She simply watched. Then she raised the camera again, adjusting the focus and changing the angle. But nothing felt right. Nothing felt capable of holding what she was seeing. “You’re going to miss the best part.” The voice came from beside her. Soft and calm. Strangely familiar. Lena turned her head. And saw her. The girl sat casually on the rock beside her, knees drawn up slightly. She wore an oversized white T-shirt, denim shorts, and a smile that seemed to belong to the place itself. The wind played with a few loose strands of her hair. She didn’t look like someone watching the sunset. She looked like she was part of it. “The best part?” Lena asked. The girl tilted her chin toward the horizon. “When it touches the ocean.” “That happens every day.” A small smile appeared on the girl’s lips. “Exactly.” “And that makes it special?” “It does.” Lena raised an eyebrow. “That doesn’t make any sense.” The girl laughed. A light, easy laugh. Beautiful. “Rio doesn’t need to make sense.” For some reason, that made Lena smile too. The silence that followed wasn’t awkward. It was comfortable. Like they were sharing something that didn’t need to be explained. The wind moved between them. The waves crashed below. The sun sank a little further. “I’m Miu.” “Lena.” Their hands met halfway between them. The touch should have been brief. Instead, it lingered for a second longer than necessary. Maybe two. Long enough for both of them to notice. Long enough for neither of them to let go first. When they finally pulled away, they did so at almost exactly the same moment. And that made them both smile. But in that moment, Lena had the strange feeling that Rio itself had disappeared. There was only the ocean. The sunset. And the girl sitting beside her. Maybe she had already found something far more interesting. #lenamiu #lalinalena #miunatsha #wlw #fyp
