chichi ruined gohan the same way ox king ruined chichi. she wasnt meant to be a fighter. Gohan was. he only studies because thats what his mom forced on him his whole life. same reason why chichi fights and trains goten. if she wanted to give Gohan the life she didnt why didnt she make goten study as well? why did she train goten but force Gohan to study?

Chichi is fully in the right too. Her husband spent his entire life fighting life and death battles and couldnt provide for his family. Her father couldnt even stop a fire from destroying her childhood home. Gohan being a scholar is the best option for him to thrive. everyone always brings up gohan's potential, but if gohan geta raised to be a warrior, he dies face down in a puddle.

look at how happy gohan is an an adult. children famously make bad decisions for themselves. she understood his underlying passion and did her best to keep him on track. was she overbearing at times? yeah maybe. no one is perfect. but you can tell by the way she treats goten vs gohan that she understands her bpys and their goals in life and is just trying to help them get there

This episode on dbs shows how trunks reacts to gohan living his dream life(as an graduated and a father), trunks reveals to us that in the other timeline gohan always dreamed of the life the current gohan is living. (I loved this episode and don’t agree to people who say dbs doesn’t have good writing)

people forget. gohan isn’t his dad - he doesn’t enjoy fighting as much and only really does it when he really needs to. to protect the ones he love. so not only is chi chi is ensuring he gets a comfortable life in adulthood but also to keep him modivated on his dream.

Rhe idea that Chichi is forcingGohan into something he doesnt want to do has never sat rightwith me, we see that he enjoys learning, I have to believe that Chichi is just overbearing the way any mother might be, and that her need for him to succeed is droven from knowing he can and wants to but doesn't have the context of applying it to being a responsible adult cause he's 4. And in the end, Gohan liked school, he likes studying insects, he DID want to be a scholar. He just didn't have the wisdom that comes with age to know it as a child.

Because being mature is realizing She was never overreacting because imagine being a mother and you don't know if you're ever gonna see your kids again the amount of times her eldest son almost died is crazy, and then her actual husband dying multiple times she had to reluctantly let her son go to a whole different planet, not knowing if he'll, she'll ever see him again. chichi grew up in a castle. she probably had private tutors. who do u think paid for everything they had. it certainly wasn't goku. Gohan is a nerd. in last movie he gohan had the job he wanted when he 4yrs old.
