When I tell you, I loved this when it came out, and what is so crazy is when this show came out, I accidentally watched the first season backwards. It was so suspenseful. It was just the way that on-demand was set up, and I didn’t even realize it, and I just watched it backwards. I felt so silly, but I was like it actually made the show so much funnier.

Also, to go a level deeper it’s kind of a form of micro expression. Her character may have always touched her cross necklace like that when she was struggling morally and wanting to remind herself of her faith etc. Just makes Meryl an even better actor by creating this new layer to a character.
