@found_in_nature_j: Chicken of the woods (laetiporus Cininnatus) White-pored Chicken of the Woods. An edible highly sought after wild mushroom. You can find it growing on the base of, or the roots of injured, dying, or dead oak trees. This particular species of COW mushrooms grows in a rosette pattern, some parts of it will be older than other sections. That means despite some being bug eaten and soggy not all of it always is. Ended up leaving half of it due to it being too old and soggy, but bites taken out from bugs don't bother us 😂 You can just cut those parts off as long as the pores on the underside are a pristine white/ cream color it's perfectly good to eat! Walking away with about 7 lbs of mushrooms and after cutting off bad parts still left us with about 5 lbs. COW mushrooms freeze well to store an excess amount if you're lucky enough to find it. Being completely honest with you, breaded up and fried it tastes like and has the texture of real chicken. #mushroom #foraging #mushroomhunter #nature #forager
