NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi confirmed the seizures in a Sunday statement, with the agency's website noting that the single biggest catch was a 40-foot shipping container packed with 195 sacks of the potent cannabis strain. The container held 4,959 kilograms of the drug, valued at roughly N12.397 billion on the street. Per Babafemi, agents from two NDLEA Special Operations Units had the shipment under surveillance for upwards of a month before moving in. The bust came during a joint inspection carried out alongside the agency's Apapa command, 1, Nigeria Customs, other security outfits, and port officials. Investigators traced the drugs' journey back to Toronto, where the container was loaded on April 25.
