It's kind of a crazy thing to think about, but humanity never HAD to become what we've became. After hearing tons of theories, and tons of explanations...we, as a majority, assigned value to items that really don't mean a whole lot..and the more of this thing you have the more wealth is assigned by others, to you. Without the consensus, it would mean nothing... somewhere along the line, the elites decided x means I'm better than the ones who only possess y or less. Who knows why? pride? ego?
